ABSTRACT

This chapter describes methodology and results of Gina Ogden’s landmark survey, now archived in the Kinsey Institute. The first and so far only nationwide survey to address sexuality and spirituality, it established a multidimensional model for assessing and treating sexual issues, as distinct from a performance model, which quantifies behaviors, or a medical model, which pathologizes sexual variance. Neuro Updates #1, #2, #3, and #4 introduce a spectrum of issues regarding the intersection of brain research and sexuality: multidimensionality, moving beyond negative messages and negative experiences, and how life and sexual experience can ripen over time, with references to Barry Komisaruk, Lorimer Moseley, Peter Levine, Stephen Porges, and Bianca Acevedo.
