ABSTRACT

The third chapter begins with a client’s experience of having been in group therapy. Often and without validation, many therapists consider group therapy as a second rate modality. This is not the case at all. Most people live in a society thus their interactions with their society affects their day-to-day living with both others and with themselves. Group therapy is a microcosm of their society. It offers opportunities unseen in individual psychotherapy where they get to interact with different individuals who represent the personalities in their lives. Due to the transferential opportunities inherent in group, these clients can more effectively work through many of their interpersonal conflicts.
