ABSTRACT

Chapter 1 focuses on the context of educational programs for entrepreneurs as an emerging phenomenon. Despite the proliferation of entrepreneurship education (EE) platforms and programs, robust research on their competitive advantage over any other educational program, and on the distinguishing features of each program’s mission and activities, still lags behind. The role of the ecosystem, represented by the triple relationship of education–industry–government, is crucial in enabling EE. An international outlook can expand the scope of EE programs by shifting from a local to a global view. ‘The Startup Grind worldwide community’, the case study that concludes Chapter 1, brings a new flavor to the EE realm, by presenting an innovative educational platform: an entrepreneurial community.
