ABSTRACT
The third Key Theme related to Hermes, the movement of persons and things and their protection in the process of moving, is the focus of Chapter 3. Here, in addition to his status as Divine Guide, his status as the protector of persons, places and property is examined and shown to extend to the less tangible life transition from boyhood to manhood in ancient religious thought.
