ABSTRACT
The focus of Chapter 6 is on how Hermes makes use of his trickster skills to get Zeus’ attention in order to then demonstrate how useful he will be to his father if he is granted his patrimony and included among the ruling Olympians, offering discussions of Hermes as the god upon whom Zeus relies in the running of his cosmos: he becomes Zeus’ spokesman, the one who makes him laugh, his network-builder and maintainer, and his father’s more ‘humane’ face to mortals.
