ABSTRACT
This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book deals with the economic integration between Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and India. The ASEAN-India economic integration has made substantial progress in lowering trade costs, economic integration seems to advance further. The book discusses how to reinforce a much needed pillar of political cooperation between ASEAN and India. It reviews the trade relations between ASEAN and India, analyses the impact of ASEAN-India Free Trade Agreement on ASEAN’s exports of manufactured goods to India and India’s exports of manufactured goods to ASEAN, and presents suggestions to further enhance ASEAN-India trade in goods. The book explores the possibility of and the enabling conditions needed for knowledge institutional cooperation in the Asian regional context, specifically between India and ASEAN. India and Southeast Asian countries are striving for greater regional integration.
