ABSTRACT

We ask Brooke about the crossover between traditional and interactive writing, and in particular about what games designers can learn from conventional storytelling methods. She reflects on working as part of an independent team, highlighting the complexity of bringing even a small, textless game, such as The Gardens Between, to life, and ponders the comparisons to her future at Remedy in working with a whole team of dedicated writers. In looking ahead, she also considers how traditional narrative techniques might be utilized in combination with emerging technologies to create new story experiences.
