ABSTRACT

The paper aims at comparing some experiences, in which conservation plans have been introduced, to test the implementation of different knowledge management tools. The discussion refers to Italian context. Italian Cultural Heritage Code enforced in 2004, and Guidelines published by Lombardy Region in 2003 and issued in 2005, which define contents and methodology for maintenance plans and scientific reports. The comparison focuses and costs and benefits of the adoption of simple or sophisticated digital tools, such as GIS or relational databases. The ultimate question is if the choice of the tool may influence the owners’ willingness to implement continuous care procedures entailing not only the needed intervention works, but knowledge management as well.
