ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book presents the role of the Manufacturing Cost Policy Deployment (MCPD) system from the perspective of the directions for increasing the manufacturing profit on the account of productivity. It also presents the MCPD system from the perspective of transforming manufacturing companies by establishing and implementing profitable improvement projects. The book discusses real implementations of profitable improvement projects through the MCPD system in different industries, in situations with the need to maximize outputs amid the growth of sales volumes and the need to increase effectiveness and reduce losses. The profitability scenarios hypostases (boundaries for the scenario) are predominantly for maximizing outputs ("E") or predominantly for minimizing inputs ("I"). The greatest challenge of the MCPD system is the scientific establishment of the annual manufacturing cost improvement targets and means (the second step of the MCPD system) to meet the annual MCI goal.
