ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a kaizen project for Manufacturing Cost Improvement (MCI) by reducing the lead time of an assembly line. It discusses a kaizen project for MCI by increasing the synchronization level of the equipment lead time with the takt time of the assembly month. The chapter explores a kaizen project for the reduction of work in process storage space. It describes a kaizen project for MCI for reducing unplanned packaging consumption and reducing or eliminating supply lead time. Continuous knowledge of losses and waste level and of Costs of Losses and Waste associate factory lead time and, associate supply chain lead time, manufacturing lead time, delivery lead time and continuous reduction of critical cost of losses and waste by planning and running the required annual MCI means on time is required. "LL-Plant" has introduced a series of systemic structural change projects: operative maintenance, preventive maintenance, quality maintenance, quality assurance, education and training, redesigning the cost and budgeting system.
