ABSTRACT

The 'wrong way' to approach Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) Part 3 exam is to prepare how clinicians did for the MRCOG Part 2 exam. Simply put, the MRCOG Part 2 and Part 3 exams are completely different exams with completely different formats and emphases. Assemble all of clinician’s revision materials early and have them ready for when clinicians practise so that they use their time efficiently. In particular, avoid the heavy texts that clinicians have used for the MRCOG Part 2 exam. The MRCOG Part 3 exam can be immensely stressful to prepare for. Mainly, this comes from the fear of the unknown and needing to perform when an examiner is observing. Stick to clinician’s realistic and achievable schedule. Once clinicians have found out they have passed the MRCOG Part 2 exam, write their Part 3 preparation schedule and stick to it.
