ABSTRACT

This chapter presents different methods and tools that support innovation across the entrepreneurial lifecycle. The first method of innovation is Design Thinking. Design thinking focuses on the formal and creative process of solving problems. The second method was developed by Nathan Furr and Jeff Dyer and is described in their book The Innovator's Method. The authors summarize and integrate different innovation perspectives into an end-to-end innovation process comprising four stages: (1) insight, (2) problem, (3) solution and (4) business model. From their investigation they describe how corporate innovators adapt principles and tools from startups that are navigating under scenarios of uncertainties. Visual thinking includes tools such as graphic recording, data and information visualization, diagrams, sketch notes, mind maps, infographics, concept maps, process and flow charts are also discussed. Discussions on value chain analysis, prototyping, and mind mapping are also included.
