ABSTRACT

The third part of the book describes ways of navigating and balancing paradox. Three ways of relating to paradox are introduced: integrative thinking, positioning, and acceptance. Chapter 10 examines integrative thinking as a way that managers can use paradox constructively. For example, in decision-making, managers must complete a simultaneously analytic and creative process that eliminates paradox to such as point where leadership is possible and the will to act is maintained. Examples of this decision-making process are strategic and central decisions that affect the company or leadership efforts.
