ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book considers four key ideas. They are: Instructional practices and procedures impact student learning and behavior; A reflective approach to instruction leads to thoughtful, high-quality decisions; Clear and focused feedback is crucial to student success and teacher sanity; Balance is essential to success. It shares strategies for establishing focal questions and well-structured agendas for each class period that will keep students focused and engaged. It then discusses how clear organization, a strong sense of pace, and a thorough lesson plan are important to facilitating student learning and encouraging effective behavior. The book also describes how the use of exit questions can provide a sense of closure to a class period while also helping students reflect on the material they've learned that day.
