ABSTRACT

Activation refers to the individual's ability to plan their approach to a task; to assess what needs to be done and in what order; to find and organise the necessary materials; to estimate the time the task will take and then to begin the work. A pupil with an activation weakness will experience difficulties with personal as well as academic organisation and constantly lose or misplace their belongings and be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Pupils with an activation weakness will adopt the same attitude towards school work, even when they are aware that the work must be completed. Any individual who experiences an activation deficit will have poor time management. People with executive function disorders are more likely to do well when their organisation routines are similar in every setting. Use graphic organisers to demonstrate the organisation of essays, note taking and the recording of research.
