ABSTRACT

Chapter 2 follows St Æthelwald’s parishioners, and one young woman specifically, en route to the temple in order to give a feel for the movement within the city of London and how parishioners at St Æthelwald’s relate to the sensory spaces of Britain. The chapter highlights the marked contrast between the urban space through which parishioners travel and the anticipated goal. It also looks at some neighbouring parishes, to help place St Æthelwald’s within the wider Orthodox context in London.
