ABSTRACT

Extremist propaganda is a twenty-first century success story around the world and certainly in the U.S. There are numerous reasons why extremist propaganda has been so successful, ranging from people having a lack of knowledge to people succumbing to peer pressure. The author conducted a series of interviews to explore the reaction of people to propaganda and why they readily accept so much propaganda as truth. Chapter 11 examines ten reasons why propaganda works so well, with anecdotal comments collected during the interviews along with casually observing individuals’ acceptance and perpetuation of propaganda.
