ABSTRACT

The chapter is mainly devoted to the investigation on the supercontinuum generation using a numerical simulation. An overview of nonlinear optical phenomena is discussed, which is responsible for the generation of the wideband supercontinuum. The dynamics of supercontinuum generation under different conditions have been described. Finally, the numerical solution of the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which is used to simulate supercontinuum generation in photonic crystal fibers, has been discussed.
