ABSTRACT

The field of nutrigenomics has become quite promising since it allows understanding of the correlation between the genetic constitution of an individual and his/her diet. Nutrigenomics also reveals how the gene expression is manipulated by nutrition. Data mining, on the other hand, has emerged as a very powerful tool to study nutritional epidemiology in terms of specific patterns and links, which cannot be discovered using traditional statistical techniques. This chapter discusses nutrigenomics in detail along with its sources. The relationship between data mining and nutrigenomics has been reviewed in this chapter, thereby providing an insight for future research.
