ABSTRACT
The chapter’s focus is on how to develop and facilitate parent support groups. It will define the term “parent support groups,” discuss how these groups are developed and function, and provide a short list of resources. The chapter will use the Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) program by Dinkmeyer, McKay, and Dinkmeyer, Jr. (1997) as a model for illustrating the common elements found in these types of programs.
