ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the development of a particular conflict situation in order to examine the structure of class relationships. It shows that how the workers' actions interpreted as expressions of class consciousness. Industrial plants are generally concentrated in a few urban centres, facilitating recognition of, and co-operation in support of, shared economic interests. The most important factors of all in promoting a political consciousness among workers are the clear division of labour in the industrial system and the workers' distinctive relationship to the mode of production. The Estate was developed in the late 1950s and early 1960s by the Regional Government at Ibadan when Ikeja fell within the Western Region. The Federal Government has done little to regulate industrial relations procedure. The major determinant of formally constituted bargaining procedures between managements and workers has been the capital-intensive technology imported from advanced industrial societies.
