ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the ontological and cosmological beliefs of African cultural and religious beliefs as fundamental background to African eschatological ‘theology.” Consequently, the chapter discusses ontological and cosmological themes of:

The origin and nature of humans and the universe as contained in the mythical stories of different African societies.

The human and divine relationship in determining the origin and final destination (end of humans).

Connectivity of these themes to evolved distinctive African eschatological worldview.
