ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author breaks down the most fundamental rules of troubleshooting for different areas of a sound system, and discusses some fun scenarios at the people to test the people skills. She breaks the sound system down into several categories: Inputs, Outputs, Intercom, Video, RF, and Midi. The author explains that there is one other category that is important, but not exactly sound related and too varied, which is networking. Pink noise is consistent. Pink noise always sounds the same. Pink noise is signal made up of equal energy in all octaves of frequency, which means, unlike white noise, it follows the logarithmic nature of human hearing. The first and most basic category is inputs. Without input, we are nothing. Of course, there are times when we get blamed for what that input is, but mostly we do not create the input.
