ABSTRACT

This chapter suggests exercises that can be utilized and adapted across educational levels, school subjects, higher education disciplines, and societal contexts. The exercises are suitable both for individual contemplation, for face-to-face dialogues in pairs or groups, for personal diary or essay writing, or a combination of these. The first group of exercises is concerned ith possible distinctions between empirical, psychological, and philosophical questions. The second group is focused on interpretation and reflection upon experiences, while the third and forth group of exercises respectively involve statements, arguments, and reasons, followed by criteria and perspectives. The series of exercises continues with interpretation and understanding of text, continues with exercises involving emotions and attitudes, before moving on to ethics and moral action. The last two groups of exercises are centred around the human being in cultural and historical context, and on existence and enlightenment. Altogether, the exercises are meant to cover the six dimensions in the Dialogos map for wisdom oriented pedagogy: The existential-emotional dimension, the relational-communicative dimension, the critical-analytical dimension, the practical-ethical dimension, the cultural historical dimension, and the spiritual-ideal dimension.
