ABSTRACT
Although the fact that in bioenergetics the properties of gases are rarely evoked, it is interesting to apply the first law and its associated relations to the case of ideal gases. Results coming from these considerations are of great aid to introduce the concept of entropy and to begin to grasp its meaning.
