ABSTRACT

A career as a director can reap rewards. But it takes a long time and a lot of doing it to get to the point where one can become a good director. One of the most important attributes of the successful director is patience. Another important attribute for the successful director is punctuality. Another particularly necessary attribute for the film director is endurance. Some would call it stamina. The director is often called upon to be an intellectual, emotional, and physical athlete. There are many stories about directors who have nurtured dream projects for sometimes as much as 10 years as they attempted to get the polished script or the necessary funding or the right cast for the realization of the dream. Since directors are confronted with obstacles too numerous to mention and from every quarter on a daily basis, it is necessary to develop a kind of "dog with a bone" mentality.
