ABSTRACT
Remember, when I refer to the character outline it is in regard to the specific choices of life need and scene needs made in order to identify and plan the character’s behavior for the entire length of the journey in the text and in your throughline. Taking into consideration the work described in the previous chapter, it is now necessary to examine each principal character in terms of his/her position in the structure.
Does the character fall on the antagonist or protagonist side? (The protagonist side includes those making the journey or aiding in the climb to the top of the mountain. The antagonist side includes those who attempt to obstruct the climb.)
Who carries the line, goes on the journey, or moves the story forward? (Who is the main protagonist?)
Which character or characters stand in the way of the forward motion of the protagonist? (Who are the antagonists?)
Which characters seem to lie in the middle of the structure, between the two opposing forces?
