ABSTRACT
In this chapter, journalism’s relationship with the state in a Scandinavian context is outlined. Proximities to the state are discussed through the issues of lobbying, state support including public service broadcasting, legal expansions and policy interventions. The chapter also considers the state of the arm’s-length principle in the region and discusses tendencies in political parallelism due to increased polarization of the political landscape.
