ABSTRACT

Awareness of the need to give validity to non-Western science is not sufficient if we are to begin to really understand how we will collectively work toward a future where museums will derive their authority from all peoples. It is not for Western science to give its imprimatur, but rather we begin to see that authorship itself needs to be ceded. The youth of tomorrow will benefit from cultural leaders in all societies and they will make significant changes to our institutions, museums, and other places of public education. It is up to all of us in positions of authority today to enable a process where we share the teaching across all cultural boundaries if we are to play a meaningful role in the nurturing of this future society.
