ABSTRACT

The history of High Performance Computing at Lomonosov Moscow State University began with the creation of the Research Computing Center in 1955. Taking the supercomputing road more than ten years ago, Lomonosov Moscow State University Supercomputing Center is planning to move forward to exaflops and further in the future. Scientific groups representing more than 350 organizations and institutions from over 50 cities of Russia use the high performance computing resources of MSU’s supercomputer center. The operating system of Lomonosov-2 is Centos-7. The only additions are Mellanox InfiniBand drivers, Panasas drivers, and Lustre drivers. The power and cooling systems for Lomonosov-2 supercomputer follow the general segmentation guidelines. An emergency-cooling mode exists to deal with utility power input blackouts when both cooling segments are operating on power from the UPS. The Research Computing Center of Lomonosov Moscow State University is developing a set of system tools for performing holistic analysis of supercomputer behavior that is being used on the Lomonosov-2 supercomputer.
