ABSTRACT

Body attitude descriptions may include: sitting and standing positions, the individual's present reaction to the environment and events that are occurring, any qualities that appear frozen in the body, tension spots, alignment characteristic phrases, body shape, and use or restrictions of body parts. Body attitude represents the somatic core of the individual's presentation that changes with each developmental phase; it reaches a certain degree of stability in adulthood. The Kestenberg Movement Profile (KMP) diagrams graphically depict the relative frequencies of different movement qualities within nine distinct categories. The KMP identifies two kinds of rebounds: upbeat and tripartite. The KMP observer describes the setting, the persons involved, and the general context of the observation. After a period of observation, a short narrative description of the mover is written, focusing on the movement patterns for which there is readiness at rest and which can be easily discerned during movement.
