ABSTRACT

Blockchain proponents claim that as provenance is verified on the Blockchain, accountability and trust between parties becomes more assured. It may be helpful to describe the Blockchain in a rather elementary fashion so that the uninitiated may gain an appreciation of the nature of the technology and what is novel in its development. Individuals who wish to conduct transactions on the Blockchain have a digital identifier consisting of a string of letters and numbers of between 26 and 34 characters. Consumers are given a certain measure of control over the exact manner that they chose to interact with one another and with interested parties on the Blockchain. It should be noted that there are some immediate risks to transacting using a cryptocurrency on the Blockchain. Blockchain has indeed lived up to its promise to reduce the dependencies on third parties.
