ABSTRACT

Dream Sociograms provide important understandings about the nature of conflict between emerging potentials and psychological conflict, including waking world view, script assumptions and cognitive distortions. Because psychological conflict involves contradiction, competition and antagonism, it signifies significant expenditures of intention within readers. A purpose of Integral Deep Listening, then, is not the elimination of psychological conflict but rather the integration of life, conflicts and all, into a more balanced and smoothly functioning system. There are the priorities of readers' own intrasocial communities and then there are the priorities of socialization. This concept implies that the amount of intrasocial conflict is related to the degree of incongruence between the actual preferences of individual perspectives and those of the group as a whole. Readers can see the reduction of intrasocial conflict taking place in the movement toward consensus that often occurs in the Dream Commentaries and in the waking Commentaries and Action Plan.
