ABSTRACT

The teachers, in turn, saw students' engagement in language arts being mirrored in their own learning and understanding of the change taking place in the school. The only tampering with the truth occurs in the names and situations of the different players and the obscuring of the location so that the school cannot be identified. The province, in which this school was located, carries out province-wide assessment of core subjects on a rotational basis. The superintendent was reported to have liked the job the principal was doing in the school. The concept of theme days caught the imagination of several teachers in the school. One of the characteristics of that journey appeared to be permission to try different things in the school. Highly discrepant views emerged regarding what was occurring in the school. The ethos of the school that had encouraged people to break old habits during the first year continued into the second.
