Introduction

In this introductory chapter, we present this volume as incorporating a number of perspectives, methods and data, before discussing the political context of the UK’s decision to leave the European Union as a manifestation of right-wing populism. We then review previous linguistic and discourse analytical work on Britain’s relationship with the EU, before briefly summarising the new research included in this book.
