ABSTRACT
Chapter 8, written by Dr. Gail DiSabatino and Mariette Bien-Aime Ayala, explores the personal and professional experiences of the vice presidents, vice chancellors, and presidents who contributed to this project. Family and educational backgrounds were found to deeply influence the creation of a personal mission to serve in the urban context. The chapter includes personal insight into the nature of the role as well as strategies and suggestions for managing the pathway to and demands of the position.
