ABSTRACT

This chapter suggests that data verbalization maybe used as a complimentary aid to progressing ‘blended learning’ located within a community context. It looks at the way data verbalization can be used as a complimentary approach with relation to blended learning. The chapter examines ways to look beyond the traditional approaches to blended learning by examining possible new concepts outside of the classroom. Blended learning is a pedagogical approach in which direct instruction moves from the group learning space to the individual learning space, and the resulting group space is transformed into a dynamic, interactive learning environment where the educator guides students as they apply concepts and engage creatively in the subject matter. Using ‘data verbalization’ as an adapted form of blended learning requires effective preparation. The chapter concludes by exploring the consequences and implications of deploying a complimentary approach for student learning.
