ABSTRACT

The chapter examines the various elements involved in designing the dissertation study. The dissertation Chapter III highlights the research design and the steps the students will take to complete the dissertation. Decisions need to be made early in the process, as they will influence the study’s data collection, findings, and overall outcomes. This chapter discusses the idea of research design, including the unit of analysis, research questions, and the best approach for different kinds of studies. Further, the chapter explores the concepts of generalizability and transferability to help students understand the goals and potential of qualitative research. The chapter concludes with reflections on pilot studies and research design limitations.
