ABSTRACT

After students successfully defend their dissertation proposal and receive approval to move forward, they will begin data collection. This chapter offers insights into important issues related to data collection that should be considered. Importantly, students should select a research site which fits the criteria of the study as well as offers accessibility. Students also need to consider different types of sampling strategies that best suit their study. The chapter gives an overview of the different types of qualitative data, such as individual and group interviews, observation, and documents. The chapter concludes with reflections on transcribing qualitative data and organizing different data sources.
