ABSTRACT

The chapter encourages doctoral students to think about how they will analyze and present the data, which occurs in the dissertation Chapter IV. Data analysis is an ongoing process for qualitative research, one that begins during the data collection stage. Organizing and managing data effectively is a crucial first step towards this end. The chapter outlines the various steps of data analysis before introducing the concepts of validity and reliability. Data analysis strategies for internal and external validity as well as reliability are noted. The chapter concludes with a discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of using qualitative research software to assist with data analysis.
