ABSTRACT

Employee onboarding is a great way to reduce the turnover rate of an organization and initiate ownership of strategic objectives. An effective onboarding process can help move past those initial anxious feelings and move on to more positive and productive feelings. A formal onboarding program simply converts the orientation process from a painful experience into an exciting one. The most common type of onboarding is employee onboarding. As potential employees are recruited, they are typically given a sort of sales pitch promoting the organization. Developing and consistently executing an effective employee onboarding process is a great way to take advantage of the enthusiasm brought into an organization by new employees. The employee onboarding process can convert the initial excitement into long-term employee engagement and can be used to initiate buy-in to the corporate strategy. The onboarding process should include a social aspect intended to help new employees build relationships quickly and initiate new employees into the culture.
