ABSTRACT

It is common for the leadership of Architectural, Engineering, and Construction firms to be tempted to skip the analysis phase and jump right into development of the strategy. Developing a strategy without performing an analysis is similar to designing a building without first determining the applied loads in order to size the columns, beams, connections. Viewing every problem as an opportunity will facilitate a more thorough and informative analysis. It is by identifying and understanding the problems that effective solutions can be developed. The analysis process will dive deep into the organization from multiple perspectives and work to pull out the root causes of the problems. The internal analysis will include examining various internal aspects, such as culture, operations, and core competencies. Finally, the organization is analyzed from an external perspective. The analysis will also require the input of several key individuals from within and outside the organization.
