ABSTRACT

Breakthrough Thinking is an innovative thinking paradigm that produces a creative approach to problem solving. Problem solvers typically employ techniques, methods, and tools that have worked in the past. The Breakthrough Thinking paradigm develops innovative solutions by focusing on an ideal future state. Conventional thinking focuses on generalization and similarity, whereas Breakthrough Thinking focuses on situation-specific solutions and uniqueness. The Betterment Timeline Principle focuses on developing solutions that have elements of continued improvement over time. The solutions regularly have to be changed and upgraded toward the solution-after-next target. The Limited Information Collection Principle recommends problem solving based on selective data collection, rather than digging through large amounts of data that are more likely to obscure the solution rather than highlight it. Breakthrough Thinking is a forward-looking, innovative, and creative approach to problem solving. One of the most powerful aspects of Breakthrough Thinking is that it is a problem-solving paradigm.
