ABSTRACT

Before the doors open for guests to enter the venue, the venue manager will conduct the staff briefing. The staff are usually briefed as one group for efficiency and consistency, and not briefed in departmental groups. This allows for just one briefing, because time will be short. If any member of staff has a question, all other staff will hear the answer. Also, it prevents the venue manager from having to repeat information or forgetting to say something to one group which they have said to another. After the staff briefing, the venue manager may separately brief the security team. Security will need to know that the doors do not open until the venue manager gives the instruction; not the client nor the event organiser. The final walk-round can be conducted by the venue manager alone, or with the accompaniment of the client, and/or the event organiser, and/or the head of security, and/or the head of housekeeping or maintenance.
