ABSTRACT

There are three types of event organizer: the venue's event manager employed in-house, client, and events specialist. It is not unusual for all three types of event manager to be involved with organising one event. This will be where the client contracts an events specialist to run the event at a venue with an in-house event manager. To compound the issue of who is in charge, there can be sponsors, a catering company, production manager, PR company, marketing company, and a security company. All of whom want to make the decisions. To avoid confusion, and conflicts, it is necessary to identify the 'real' event organiser. For the venue to perform the role of advising other people using their venue, the venue events manager must have the relevant experience and knowledge of event, including statutory and health and safety regulations.
