ABSTRACT

The reputation of the venue is largely measured after an event. So if the post-event procedures are left untidy or neglected, this will be the legacy. It would be neglectful to omit the post-event requirements from the three stages of ensuring the success of an event. The post-event stage is the time to measure performance. It can take effort to continue with procedures after an event has taken place. But, all procedures are purposeful, so a venue manager cannot omit any part. Each procedure makes up the whole: the 'whole' is the success of an event and is only complete when the three stages of event management have been fulfilled. If a department reports an issue, the procedures can be adapted for future events, and the venue manager needs to evolve this learning for the sake of self-development, professionalism, the success of future events, and the ongoing reputation of the venue.
