ABSTRACT
Corrosion of aluminum is a chemical reaction with its environment leading to the deterioration of its properties. This article addresses corrosion of aluminum including why it corrodes. Included in this review are the following topics: Pourbaix Diagrams, electrochemistry of corrosion, effect of chlorides on corrosion rates, forms of corrosion and their prevention, microbiological corrosion prevention, and testing.
