ABSTRACT
Forging may be defined as a forming process of a blank (billet) which is put on a lower die to receive compressive force from an upper die and the resulting plastic flow is initiated to fill the die cavity. This article reviews various aspects of the forging processes including: basic forging operations including die forging design, defects, and forging presses.
