ABSTRACT

Aluminum alloys can be divided into two groups: casting alloys and wrought alloys. This article focuses on aluminum wrought alloys. This article will address the hardening, annealing and aging processes of wrought aluminum alloys. Specific topics to be addressed include: hardening mechanisms, annealing, heat treatment, quenching, aging of various commercial aluminum alloys, aluminum-lithium (Al-Li) alloys, precipitation phenomena.
