ABSTRACT
This chapter analyzes information gathered from interviewing and spending time with three families who identify as white and working class. In addition to describing their lived experiences, I reflect on my own to address complex elements of working-class life, adding rich layers to the essentializing stereotypes repeatedly portrayed on screen. The accounts written seek to disrupt and challenge dominant and oppressive ideas about white working-class people that saturate media.
